Exploring the Exclusion Zone photos by Hélène Veilleux
After the Chernobyl nuclear disaster in April 1986, the Ukrainian government created the Exclusion Zone, an area of restricted access meant to contain the degenerative effects of the radioactive fallout from the blast and a way to keep curious eyes away from one of the worst nuclear power plant accidents in history. However, despite a natural population that still persists to this day, tourists can be granted day passes to explore the irradiated ruins of Chernobyl and neighboring city Pripyat. Hélène’s photo journal documents her travel into the Zone, uncovering the remnants of lives left behind in the two ghost towns, which still stand to this day as twin sacrifices to the alter of scientific progress.

BIkers Against Child Abuse Helps Make Abused Children Feel Safe Again
“A biker’s power and intimidating image can even the playing field for a little kid who has been hurt. If the man who hurt this little girl calls or drives by, or even if she is just scared, another nightmare, the bikers will ride over and stand guard all night.
If she is afraid to go to school, they will take her and watch until she’s safely inside.
And if she has to testify against her abuser in court, they will go, too, walking with her to the witness stand and taking over the first row of seats.”
During one such testimony, a little boy sat on the stand, testifying against his abusive father, who sat less than 10 feet away.
“Why didn’t you say anything before now?” Asked the prosecutor.
“I was scared.” The little boy replied, honestly.
“Why aren’t you scared now, what changed?” The prosecutor watched the little boy closely as he pointed to the front row of seats in the court room.
“Because my friends are scarier than he is.”
This is why I wish I was scary.
Just another reason to not judge someone by how they dress.

Okay, so I just found out that Archer has an unaired “original pilot” where they replaced Archer…with A FUCKING RAPTOR. The episode has the exact same plot as the first episode, but he’s a raptor. He doesn’t talk, he just makes raptor noises throughout the episode. It just might be singlehandedly best thing I’ve ever seen.
Edit: Since some of you reblogging this have mentioned finding it, you can see it here

The original story of the little mermaid is that she must kill the prince in order to be human, and in the end, she loves him too much and kills herself instead.
The artwork is too great not to reblog.
